Praying People
Our studies during our weekly gatherings have focused on contemplation. We reflect on our own temporality and our mortality. In doing so we are enabled by God for doing the work of the Spirit in the world. Rev. Jeff Sims is doing his doctoral project on contemplative prayer and its impacts on the community. It is not only an individual experience, but a communal one. Part of our mission is our “Contemplative Action”. We must be able to discern where God’s dynamic Spirit is moving and not assume we know where we should go next.
Join Rev. Jeff and some the lovely people at Covington Presbyterian Church at 10 am for Praying People as they practice the art of contemplative prayer in a communal setting.
Location: Covington Presbyterian Church (222 S Jefferson Ave.)

Common Table
For our study, weare going through James K.A. Smith’s great How To Inhabit Time: Understanding the Past, Facing the Future, Living Faithfully Now.
James KA Smith is one of the leading philosophical and theological voices in our country. This book will invite to consider asking a different question than “Where are we? to “When are we?”.
Location: Southern Hotel (428 East Boston St. Covington, LA 70433)
every Wednesday unless notified

Loving Our Neighbors with Food
We have a few spots we would love to fill. We are looking for a few, good volunteers for the following:
Northshore Food Bank pickup and delivery (1st and 3rd Monday’s of the month). You will use the Just Love truck.
Delivery Drivers (We will not overwhelm you. It will probably be 3-5 families until you are comfortable to take on more).
People willing to cook a meal at Covington Presbyterian Church.
If you or if you know someone who may be interested in volunteering for a great cause, my contact email is below.

Chance to Help our Tribal Neighbors
Once again Kristina Peterson of the Lowland Center and Theresa Dardar, member of the Pointe au Chien Indian Tribe in South Louisiana need our help! As Hurricane season approaches, there are still worries for the community. There are still a couple of houses that need to be demolished. We have decided to step up and help! On April 26, 2025, we will head to the Pointe au Chien Indian Tribal Headquarters and start putting sledgehammers to walls! More details will come soon, so be on the lookout.
Please be prepared to bring gloves, a water bottle, some snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else that may be helpful for you. Remember, it may be warm! Dress accordingly!
