The Curious Road to Storytelling

Over the past few months, we've been on a journey, a sort of slow unfolding into the practice of curiosity. We've been asking questions, opening doors, and wondering what happens when we stop assuming and start paying attention. And if you've been following along, you know that curiosity isn't just a personality trait—it's a way of being in the world.

We began by exploring how curiosity creates connection. When we choose to ask instead of assume, to listen instead of label, we move toward each other. Curiosity opens the door for a real relationship. It's hard to love what you think you already understand, and curiosity reminds us we don't know it all.

This led us to explore the connections in sooooo many areas of our lives. Like....

...how curiosity creates compassion...

...how curiosity can heal division...

...how the future is created by curiosity...

...how to practice curiosity with care...

...how curiosity is a key aspect of all faith traditions...

...how curiosity can lead us to action...

…how curiosity can lead us to wholeness…

Just for the record, this isn't something that I am writing about, it's something I (and others) are actively practicing. Through Just Love - Greater New Orleans, curiosity fuels projects like Free Little Libraries, support for foster families, and shared meals with folks experiencing housing insecurity. Whether it's building outdoor libraries, serving food, or just asking someone's name, curiosity has turned abstract values into concrete love here in New Orleans.

And now, we're turning the corner into what curiosity often leads to next: story.

Here's the thing I have been noticing: curiosity doesn't stop at the question. It leans in. It listens. And eventually, it finds itself sitting at the table with someone's story. Stories are where curiosity lands. They are how we understand ourselves and each other. They shape culture, community, and compassion. They are how we make sense of pain, beauty, growth, and belonging.

So, over the next few months, we're heading into the power of story. We'll explore how stories move us, shape the world around us, and invite us to be more human, honest, and hopeful.

If curiosity is the spark, then story is the fire. And we can't wait to gather around it with you and hear everyone's story. So...stay tuned...the next chapter is just beginning.

Sam
